Welcome to Kizapps, basically we’re going to review iOS applications in this section from time to time, from the perspective of marketing, user experience design, engineering and end user.
Penang iPhone application was developed by Convep Mobilogy Sdn Bhd, among the first few iOS developer in the region. Current version of the application was updated on 26 January 2011 as version 1.3.
Overall as Penangites, we love the application as it helps us in keeping updated with the upcoming events that’s happening everywhere in Penang up to 2 months in advance. Other features are quite cool, for example Top 5 even tells us where are the best fishing spots available around the island.
We believe this is a good application for tourists, foreign and locals alike, would benefit from this application as one of the most important feature of this application is showing local attractions/foods in map with direction and descriptions provided.
The only thing that we would complaint is the aesthetic design of the application. The homepage was cool with some comic style giving us the leisure feeling but when it comes to the inside of the application, listings are shown in a rather boring way. From programming perspective we believe the user experience can be enhanced with a little more touch on the listing display and giving the sleek feeling an iPhone application should have. Other than that we believe the instruction of the application can be made clearer as when we browse further into the application, there’s no indication where we came from, we practically got a little lost after 2-3 layers after the homepage.
